A Proposal for Marriage

Thankfully, she won’t hold your mistakes against you if she loves you. However, you can write the ideal proposal tale if you take care of a few details.
Let It Be a Shock
It would help if you made her propose one of her life’s biggest surprises. However, even if you and your girlfriend have discussed marriage before, that doesn’t mean you should suddenly arrange a vacation to propose. Instead, keep her guessing and add some intrigue to the situation.
Also, I’m not advocating surprising your girlfriend with an engagement ring after only dating her for a month. Nothing like that happens very often. I’ll say right off the bat that it’s doubtful, and I wouldn’t do that since you never know when love will strike at first sight. However, there are still plenty of opportunities for mystery, excitement, and surprise for the typical couples who have been together for five years or more and are planning to get married.
Timing Is Everything
As is the case with so many things, timing is crucial. Even I messed up occasionally (you can read about it here).
Many friends have told me they waited for the sun to set or rise on their trip before popping the question. While others have failed, some have found success. Don’t give up if you blow a chance; there will be another.
A friend of mine proposed to her long-term girlfriend in France by smuggling the ring through customs and taking her to the top of the Eiffel Tower before deciding there were too many people and proposing at the Louvre instead. Wait if it doesn’t seem right to you. It’s often a stroke of luck when a couple comes up with the ideal proposal tale. Then, when the time is ripe, take charge and pop the question.
Words of Love
You don’t have to prepare an entire speech, but you should know what you want to say and what you want to emphasize. Convince her why she should be your wife by describing how she makes you feel. You probably will only recall some of what you wanted to say, but being well-prepared will let you convey what you need to speak with assurance and without stumbling.
Get down on one knee like a man. I’ve only done it once, but I can attest that it was fantastic, just like in the movies. (my fiancee claims that she remembers me on my knees, begging, but I don’t buy it).
In closing, I recommend asking, “Will you marry me?”
Pure as a Diamond Love…
The cubic zirconia was my proposal stone. After returning from our trip, we sifted through countless web ring designs and diamonds until we settled on one for an engagement ring we could both be happy with. The process of selecting the diamond ring itself is exciting, and it may boost the likelihood that your future wife will adore and treasure the call for the rest of her life. Unfortunately, it’s not always the case that the larger diamond is the one she’ll pick. Buying a diamond ring is a significant emotional investment. Trying on rings, browsing diamonds, and surfing the web was tremendous fun as we explored jewelry stores and diamond brokers together.
However, nothing can compare to the glimmer of a genuine diamond on her finger when you pop the question. If you’re smarter than I am, you may have already figured out her ring size and selected the diamond ring of her dreams. Even if she doesn’t immediately fall in love with the ring you pick out for her, you’ll never find out since she won’t tell you if she doesn’t.

True Diamond Jewelry
If you know she wants a solitaire ring and has her heart set on a particular diamond cut (round brilliant, princess, or cushion), you should spring for a real diamond ring as a surprise. You can go right with a 2-carat, D-color, VS1-clarity diamond solitaire ring from Tiffany’s or Cartier if she is a brand-loyal shopper and you have the means to do so. If you’re not one of those people, keep reading.
Replacement Band for the Time Being
Getting a replacement ring can be done in different ways. Purchasing or borrowing a cubic zirconia ring is an excellent alternative to avoid any hassle at customs on your way to and from a foreign nation. In situations where stealing is typical, this is also a good proposal. Leaving my ring in a sock in Mexico is not something I feel comfortable doing. You can buy a diamond ring and return it for a different size or style at some retailers. Take caution. If the jewelry store has a no-refund policy and you return the call because she doesn’t like it, you’ll have to pay a restocking fee.
Unsecure Diamond
This is also a reasonably secure wager. The only downer is that there won’t be a ring on her finger. You can spend a little money to have the loose diamond set in a temporary setting before you commit to a permanent one.
Neither a Diamond nor a Ring
I’ve heard that other items besides roses can be used to propose. On NBC’s “Minute to Win It,” I saw a man successfully propose to his girlfriend using an apple. After he won the money, I’m sure she got a beautiful ring. He benefited from being in an iconic setting and seizing the opportunity to make television history. Do it if you ever come into such a fantastic opportunity.
