Procedures for Setup:

1 Determine if the floor you want to tile is suitable for tiling. If your kitchen floor is not flat, use a powdered leveling agent to fix the problem. In extreme cases, a new subfloor may need to be installed to provide stability. Do not install ceramic tile directly on top of vinyl flooring if the kitchen already has vinyl flooring and the owners wish to upgrade to tile.

Use a tile backer board. Various options exist for you to choose from. One variety has a mesh outside and a center resembling broken, gritty cement. The other kind has a soft inside. Both come in half-inch and quarter-inch widths. Some criteria, such as the height of the adjoining floor, determine the thickness of the tile backer board.

Third, remove all of the furniture and electronics that can be moved.

4. Determine whether or not the baseboards need to be removed before installing the backboard. Use a hammer, a narrow pry bar, and the laminate sample or the thin board to remove the quarter round and the baseboard. Protect the light board by leaning it against the wall.

Fifth, mix the thin-set according to the bag’s instructions before installing the backer board. Thin-set should be applied to the floor using the notch trowel. After that, place the backer board over the light background.

Find the exact middle of the square using a tape measure, a carpenter’s yard, and a chalk line.

Measure the tile borders by laying them out on a flat surface. Always remember that shifting the center a quarter inch is preferable to trimming the tile’s edges.

Eighth, re-combine a thin set and lay the tile over it in sections, beginning in the middle. When setting the tile, be careful to use a twisting motion and heavy downward pressure to ensure a firm bond. Install the giant tiles first.

When they are dry enough, you can prepare the edges by measuring and cutting the tiles to fit. The tiles should be laid out like whole tiles, with tiny gaps left around cupboards and walls. Wait an entire day for it to dry.

10 – Wash the tiles with water and a spray cleaner.

11) Use grout, then wait seven days for it to cure. If the floor is arid, you can seal the grout.

Feel the pride of a job well done every time you put your foot down on a tile you laid yourself in the kitchen.
